Why have bees taken over your bird bath?

Bees are likely attracted to your bird bath because it provides a reliable source of water, especially during dry weather. They need water for hydration, to cool their hives, and to dilute honey for feeding larvae. Additionally, the shallow water in a bird bath offers a safe spot for bees to land and drink without the risk of drowning. If the bath is near flowering plants, the proximity to nectar sources can further draw them in.
