As long as the child is not chocking, they should be fine. If you take them to the doctor, you will need to get an xray and the advice will be to watch over the child for the next several hours. (My child swallowed a nickel in 1987)
The dime will pass through the stomach and other digestive organs until it eventual comes out in the child's stool. You will be able to retrieve the dime soon though I would not suggest retrieving it. Toilets are not clogged by dimes. Neither are diapers, if that's the case.
