What physically and enviromental adaptations did the T-Rex make to stay alive?

Dinosaurs started out as small carnivores, and were very successful, so they became more plentiful and diverse. Herbivores grew bigger to keep from being prey, and the carnivores followed suit. :) T-rex was at the last of the age of the dinosaurs so it was pretty big.
