Vincenzo Peruggia was an Italian painter and handyman. He is most famously known for his role as the thief who stole The Mona Lisa from the Louvre in 1911, but he worked primarily as a painter and restorer, often involved in art-related tasks. His job allowed him access to valuable artworks, which he used to plan the theft.
