Where did Mario come from?

nobody really knows where Mario came from Heck I still don't know where peach came from seeing as Mario,luigi,daisy,rosalina,and peach are the only humans in that whole world evry body else is basicly a toad,goomba,lumas,ect. how ever in earlier games it is cited that Yoshi caught them when they where babys but obviOSly still don't know much about there past
