Hyenas typically reproduce once a year and have a gestation period of about 110 to 120 days. They usually give birth to one to four cubs at a time, with two being the average. The cubs are born in a den, where they are cared for by the mother and sometimes other females in the clan. After a few months, the cubs begin to join the clan and learn essential survival skills.
