When opening iTunes states problem with audio configuration when checking via Run it shows this as having started But QuicklTime seems to have a problem do I need QuicklTime to be running?

Need not to run quicktime to run along with iTunes. If you find problem with audio configuration then you can check Control Panel >> Sound & Audio Devices.

Also check for the latest version of iTunes and update it accordingly.
