When did swearing start?

With the Anglo-Saxons.

A lot of Words that are seen to be swearing are Anglo-Saxon in origin. Many were superceded by 'posher' Words, from Norman French.

e.g. 'Bum/Posterior'. or 'Fart/Flatus'.
