What did veronica and judgehead stand for Besides being pals in the old cartoon strip Archie what did veronica and jughead stand for?

first of all it is Jughead not Judge Head, no judicial angles here! Veronica and Jughead, well maybe Veronica seemed to be the more serious, laid-back types as compared to the more frivolous Archie and Reggie. This is often done in comedy teams where one comic is the funnyman and the other more straight-or deadpan serious but both work to elicit humor. I never followed the Archie strip very well, it took place in the obviously modern and co-ed Riverdale High school.
