Leo Africanus, born Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad al-Wazzan al-Zayyati, died around 1554, although the exact date and circumstances of his death remain unclear. After converting to Christianity, he lived in Rome and served as a diplomat and scholar. His later life is not well-documented, but it is believed he passed away in Italy, where he spent his final years.
