Why do people say they're like 'Romeo and Juliet' when Romeo and Juliet DIED?

Yeah, I don't really get that either. Romeo and Juliet are sort of like who couples want to be like (I don't get WHY but they do) It's probably because Romeo and Juliet really loved each other enough to die for one and other so when a couple is really in love people say that.
