Rabbits can indeed die from the cold. While rabbits are able to handle cold better than heat, if the rabbit does not have adequate shelter, food or water, it can die. A rabbit must be able to get out of the rain as well, because a wet rabbit is unable to maintain their body temperature. Also, if the rabbit is breeding during the winter, baby rabbits are born without fur, so a nursing box is essential to keep the babies alive.
