Is the ak-47 a marine gun?

The United States Marines typically won't use a foreign gun. They are trained in the art of marksmanship on the M-16. There were cases, however, in the Vietnam Conflict, where the AK-47 would out perform the M-16 on the basis that it could get dirtier and it had more stopping power.
