What is tangungo?

The tangungo is a set of 8 metal gongs hung on a harness, in contrast to the Mardinao Kulintangan which has eight gongs of graduated sizes, laid on a horizontal platform. The set consists of 7 small sized gongs which produce a running melody, wth the 8 and the biggest gong playing in syncopation to the rest to produce a particular rhythm.
