Is it ok to house a guinea pig alone?

Yes it's fine to keep one guinea pig, you would just have to give it LOTS of attention every day!! It's always best for the guinea pigs to have at least two for companion-ship since their social animals, but as long as you can give it lots of attention it's okay to have one too. Good luck!
