Early humans made sewing needles from animal bones due to the materials' availability and the need for durability and flexibility. Bones could be shaped into fine points for piercing fabric, while their strength allowed for effective use in sewing, especially with tough animal hides. In contrast, stone, although sharp, is more brittle and less suitable for the fine, precise work required in sewing. Additionally, bone needles could be more easily fashioned into a usable form compared to stone tools.
