Why salazar come to power?

António de Oliveira Salazar came to power in Portugal due to a combination of political instability and economic turmoil following World War I. As finance minister in the 1920s, he gained popularity for his efforts to stabilize the economy and restore order amid widespread strikes and social unrest. In 1932, he became Prime Minister and established an authoritarian regime known as the Estado Novo, emphasizing nationalism, corporatism, and suppression of dissent. His leadership was characterized by a strong centralized government and a focus on traditional values.
