It means that too much of a good thing can be harmful. Here are examples:
1. Winning the lottery. While enjoying your winnings, you forget to pay taxes on it, you take out a number of loans, buy items that require annual taxes, draw troublesome people into your life, get robbed, and develop a substance abuse habit. Most who have sudden winnings refuse to live the same as before. They have a sense of greed or lack that causes them to want to blow through it, buy status items, impress others, and put themselves in higher risk situations. They are often more broke, depressed, and in trouble with the law or government than before they hit the jackpot.
2. Delicious food. No matter how delicious or "healthy" a food is, the more you eat, the greater your risk for disease. You might think eating candy nonstop is fun until you get Diabetes, obesity, Heart disease, and severe toothache.
3. Certain "adult" activities. You might be having fun, but then getting pregnant when you're not ready or getting diseases is never fun.
4. Free time. You might think that retirement and getting all the free time you want is fun. For a while, it is. But then you get bored, no longer find purpose in life, and might even die sooner.
