Did Tom Dorsey's wife die during childbirth in 1932?

Yes there was a Thomas Dorsey who's wife died shortly after child birth, only to be followed by the new born son a few hours later. This was not the Thomas Dorsey of "big band" fame but rather a gospel singer. Based on this tragedy in his life he wrote the song "Precious Lord."
