St. Barbara lived in the Roman Empire, and was born of a wealthy family.

Her Father kept her locked in a tower to prevent her virginity from being taken.

Barbara's Father had built a private bathhouse for Barbara, who secretly had three Windows installed to represent the Trinity. When her Father asked her about the Windows she stated she was a Christian. Her Father beat her daily, but she refused to renounce Christ. Every morning she would miraculously wake up free of any wounds. Her Father eventually beheaded her, and she is considered a Martyr of the Roman Catholic Church.

St. Barbara is also one of the 14 Holy Helpers, and her Patronage is Against Fever, Sudden Death and the protector of Artillerymen. There are many worldwide military organizations that are named after her honor.
