What is the base of a pina colada?

A pina colada is an alcoholic beverage that contains rum, PineApple Juice, and coconut cream which is then blended with ice. The type of rum varies with each recipe. Some recipes call for light rum whereas some call for a mixture of both light and dark rum. A popular variation is the Chi Chi which has vodka instead of rum.
