MOST snakes live in a territory that supports their lifestyle. IE, sources of food and protection. They do not stay in one place usually, and shed their skins when they grow too large for the skin they are in, faster, if they have plenty of rodents and small animals to eat, slower if there is a shortage of food.

When you say, one place, do you mean a small area? I watched the habits of one 6 1/2 ft. diamondback come out from under my shed that had mice living in it, for several days; She basked in the sun in the same place to digest her food every day around 4 pm. Then one day I was able to shoot her and a head raised up and looked at me and I shot him! It turned out that they were mating and when I went about 100 feet further, there was another 6 1/2 ft. male by my house steps! What a dangerous group to have around my dogs and horses! I call it 'my 12 foot rattler story.'
