How can black be a color?

Black is made up of many colors, therefore, it is a color.

We did a Science project once with filter paper.

1. Cut a 2x5 piece of filter paper.
2. Next, use a ruler and put a small black dot 2.5 cm. from the bottom.*
3. Fill a cup with, from bottom to top, with 2 cm. of water.
4. Get a small piece of tape and attach the filter paper to a pencil.
5. MAKE SURE THE BLACK DOT IS ABOVE THE WATER, and submerge the short side of the filter paper into the water, by holding the pencil.
6. Watch the water crawl up the filter paper and produce many colors.

*The marker must be washable for this to work.
