Why do you think wind speeds on the gas giant planets are so much greater than the wind speeds on earth?

Probably the biggest reason is that there is no land to slow down the wind. Also, wind is caused by differences in air pressure, which are caused by uneven heating and cooling. The gas giants have not only the heat from the sun but also their own internal heat. Jupiter is so massive that it generates more heat than it receives from the sun.
