Kittens are born with a soft, fine coat called "lanugo," which is not their permanent fur. By around 3 to 4 weeks of age, they begin to develop their adult fur, although it may take several months for the full coat to grow in. By about 6 months, most kittens will have their adult fur, which can vary in texture and length depending on the breed.
