Two-lined spittlebug (Prosapia bicincta) is an insect that has an oval-shaped, black body with two red or orange horizontal stripes across its back.
Specifically, the red-eyed insect tends to be seen in the early hours of the day. Its favorite plants are centipede grass (Eremochloa ophiuroides) and American (Ilex opaca) and Dahoon (I. cassine) hollies. Any insecticide treatments need to be applied in early June. Effective controls contain the active ingredients carbaryl, cyfluthrin or permethrin.
