paints last the longest if they are kept above 45 degrees. For example... some people store them in their UN-INSULATED garages, and then come winter, wonder how it froze. It takes quite a while to freeze paint.... probably 2-3 days in 32 degrees F. But it will take 2-3 weeks to thaw that paint sitting in your house on a heater vent. And once paint freezes solid, it is almost useless. It can be thawed out, and taken down to the store and re-shaken to try to re-mix the separated materials, but I wouldn't use it anywhere but like the garage... or a dog house.
