What is new Poptropica?

Poptropica is an online game where you create an avatar, a cartoon character you control. You interact with the various game characters on any of the separate games, or "islands". Solving the mystery on an island (completing its quests) wins a virtual "Island Medallion".

As of June, 2010, there were 13 islands in Poptropica, and that had doubled to 26 by mid-2012. Each is a separate challenge with items to find and use. Each island has multi-user games on the island's Main Street, where Poptropicans can chat and battle with others. They can play games by themselves like Sudoku and Switch, or multiplayer, such as Sky Dive and Paint War.

Poptropica is an online site where you can play a series of animated "detective" games in a number of roles. Players are solitary characters interacting with the animated characters. There are also mini-games against other online users.

The individual games are called "Islands" which constitute individual play areas, with a distinct theme and setting. New islands have come out on an irregular basis.

You will create a cartoon avatar of yourself that interacts with the characters in the games. Activities involve exploring, analyzing, puzzles, mini-games, and problem solving. Completing an island awards the player an Island Medallion. (You play each island only once.)

Besides the constantly-introduced new islands, there are advertising mini-games that temporarily appear, offering special game rewards. The Poptropica store uses credits (earned or purchased) for special costume items.
