What could be wrong with 94 Buick speedometer stopped working?

I have a 94 Buick century the speedometer doesn't work n it has a hard time shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear it makes a funky noise. would like to find out what I can do

Sounds to me the speed sensor is At Fault.
