OJT (on the job training) is part of the last quarter to third of class experience in vet school, and most if not all new veterinary graduates will have to learn a great deal while working in practice the first 6-9 months. Because of this, many new veterinarians are encouraged to consider formal or informal mentoring in their contracts for their first jobs - four years of vet school is actually not enough to be comfortable and confident when seeing your first client.
