What animals used to do the job of tractors?

Well horses use to pull the original pieces of farm machinery that didn't have an engine or motor since technology was not very advanced in the 1800's and 1900's.

Mules and oxen were also used in the US prior to the adoption of tractor use. People in other countries have used animals like water buffalo or even elephants.
