No software is needed. CD and DVD Drives are supported with a generic driver in all versions of Windows from 95 on up, all major Linux distros, and any Mac equipped with a CD drive. Additional features beyond basic drivers are usually available as firmware software, these are available from the specific manufacturer of your CD/DVD drive at their website . Find these under the support /drivers section.

If you're talking about a virtual CD/DVD drive for .iso CD/DVD image backups, then try Virtual CloneDrive. Since I cannot give any download links, please search on google. I think it's a free software because I got it for free at the developer's website.

If you want a professional Commercial program for a virtual CD/DVD drive, then search up Daemon Toolz. Their product is very professionally made.

I hope this helped, and have a nice day :)

I think the name of the company is Elaborate Bytes, they have an array of products , but VCD is still available in a free version.
