How can you get W-2 forms from the government?

Form W-2 is Wage and Tax Statement. All employers, including the government, are required to provide/send W-2 forms to their employees.

Form W-2 must be provided by January 31st. If January 31st falls on a weekend, then the deadline is extended to the next business day. The deadline for 2009 W-2 forms is February 1, 2010(February 2, 2009 for 2008).

Contact your employer if you haven't received your W-2 forms by that date. If your employer doesn't provide them to you by mid-February, contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040.
