Why is the climate of kiev different from London when both have same latitudes?

In Kiev it's colder than London the last year the climate reached -35C this is due to the nature of the city it's surrounded by cold countries while the UK is surrounded by water which still have some humidity but people don't feel of it due to cold temp.
