CRB checks were replaced by DBS checks in 2012. Thanks to legislation changes in May 2013, if you have an old and minor conviction offence it will no longer show up, but only if:

  • The conviction offence is not on the DBS 'list of offences that will never be filtered from a DBS certificate', and
  • It has been 11+ years since the time of conviction (5.5+ if you were under 18 at the time), and
  • You do not have any other conviction offences, and
  • the conviction offence did not result in a custodial sentence (whether or not served).

If the conviction resulted in a custodial sentence, it will show up forever.

If you have more than one conviction offence, they will all show up forever.
