What is the work-flow for writing a book?

This depends on the writer. Most of us have no set "workflow" as you'd think of it in another field. We research, come up with new ideas, write, edit, and rearrange scenes as it comes to us. The one thing that is always true, however, is that you must have the book finished before you move to the publication step - that includes professional editing.
