What was the s.s. hato?

The SS Hato was a Dutch passenger ship that was sunk by a German U-boat in 1942 during World War II. It was part of a convoy traveling from Curacao to the United Kingdom when it was attacked. The sinking resulted in the loss of over 1,000 lives.
