How does the inner conflict in Alih contribute to his final action?

Alih is a character in the story "The White Horse of Alih". His inner conflict is that he knows his brother wanting to kill to revenge their father is wrong but he is scared of his brother. However, this inner conflict contributes to Alih killing his brother Omar to save a girl he loves.
