How do you turn the overdrive off?

usualy newer vehicles, around 1998ish and up will have a button. some cars have automatic overdrive. which is turned off and on by itself. others(like on a 94 s10).....have a different way. it goes P R N D D 2 1 the D with the [] around it is the overdrive
