Muhammad and his followers sought refuge in the town of Yathrib, which later became known as Medina. This migration, known as the Hijra, occurred in 622 CE and marked a significant turning point in Islamic history, as it allowed the Muslim community to establish a supportive environment free from persecution. In Medina, Muhammad became a political leader and further developed the Islamic community.
