Anything that could even remotely be seen as being sexy or homo-erotic ( perhaps even Top Cat) would be under severe scrutiny by the Decency Leagues, there were several. At times the Legion would turn its arc towards TV programs. sometimes too tolerant a view of divorce was a priming charge- I can recall a harmless nature documentary ( The Eagle and the HawK) that WA supposedly banned because the Narrator ( not acting in the usual sense)- was a Divorcee- this is how far out they could get. Anything remotely seen as poking fun at religion or saints- was off limits. the comic book Phantom Lady had to change the secret identity of their lead detective character, who was named ( and it is a good name) Joan Knight. ( She did not wear a metallic costume, by the way, but a cape over an evening gown, just those two Words in close proximity= making fun of Joan of Arc. see, they overreacted.
