Why did Alix Romanov change her name to Alexandra?

Political and religious convention, when in Russia... She also changed her religion and embraced in a whirlwind study of the Russian language as well, I think she was a bit daffy in at least her thirties to make such a dynamic life-style change. she was raised Lutheran, but became Russian Orthodox. the language shift I have already described. later in her career -during the war she adopted a sort of ungainly limp that could not have been an accident, but might have been neurotic. some people, confusing her with the Wife of Edward Vii ( a relative!) also named Alexandra- the Alexandra Limp- whether this applied to Edward"s Queen also has been argued. there is some evidence her shifty ( for a Royal type) life-style may have had roots in, well a newfound tolerance for- Vodka. I got the impression she had a drinking problem when reading several historical novels on Anastasia. also of German nationality- maiden name was Von Hess ( like the big Nazi and the Gasoline) this cannot have bode well with the Russian populace as Germany was the enemy in the war- for example the battle of Tannenberg ( Pine Mountain) entirely a Russo-German clash, the Germans having the upper hand! sad and sick woman, God rest her...
