Yes, the Britons put their names on their boxes holding their gas mask. They took it with them everywhere they went. They hung nicely on your forearm near the elbow. If you would like to see what they looked like and how they used them you can see a great old movie called Journey for Margaret. It had Margaret O'Brien, Robert Young, Lorraine Day and Nigel Bruce. It is a very profound movie that takes place during the Blitz. We have it on TCM in the US. I don't know how you could see it free unless your library has it.
