There are lots of good and bad reasons to cage an animal.

Good reasons

  • A caged animal is less likely to eat somebody; for example, it would be very difficult to control an uncaged tiger in a populated area.
  • A caged animal can be transported safely; for example, a dog can be carried in cars and on airplanes in a kennel without distracting the river or being trampled in an airport.
  • A caged animal can be enjoyed without becoming a pest; for example, a hamster can be kept in a bedroom without destoying the bed sheets.

Bad resons

  • Its fun to poke at caged animals because they can't get away, and they cant hurt you.
