What is the rail along the side of a deck on a boat called if it's solid?

Handrail is the most common reference. Good rule of thumb while aboard a boat or ship is "One hand for the ship/boat, one hand for yourself". Meaning no hands in pockets and while transiting the decks you have a hand touching some part of the vessel in the event of a sudden roll or turn.
