I celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve with my kids. On Christmas Day, they are at their mom's (my ex-wife) to celebrate.
When I was growing up, Christmas Eve was a magical night of expectation. We always had a fire in the fireplace and it was a tradition for all 5 kids to get our pajamas on and crowd around my father as he read "The Night Before Christmas" by Clement Moore. We drank eggnog with nutmeg in it (Mom and Dad's eggnog had rum in it, too).
My friend says that his Christmas Eve traditions included everybody sleeping under the Christmas tree.
The important thing is to make your own traditions.
