The Gulf Cooperation Council, officially the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, is a political and economic union of the Arab states bordering the Persian Gulf near the Arabian Peninsula. Member states include:
Saudi Arabia (largely seen as the leader of the Council)
Qatar
Bahrain
Oman
Kuwait
the United Arab Emirates
Jordan and Morocco (despite its distance from the Gulf) have been invited to join, but have not as of November 18, 2012.
