Why do snakes live in burrow?

Shelter is required by all living organisms.

Many rodents store food in their underground burrows so that they can eat while the weather is inclement (bad). They can hide from predators, too.

Many snakes are picked up and eaten by raptors while dozing atop warming stones. So they also go underground to escape from predators.
