First of all, I take it that you mean what technology did they had when they were kids. Otherwise they would have the same technology as everybody else today.

If people today were transported back to the 50s they would be shocked. They had some of the same things that we have today in name only.

If you had a telephone (and not everyone did) it could have been a party line. Several people were on the same line. You had your ring such as two shorts ect. then you knew when to answer when it rang. The phone didn't have a dial on it. To make a call you told the operator the number that you were calling.

They had television altho not every one did. You could tell who had a television by the antenna on top of the house. The televisions were all black and white and most people could only get one channel. Even then it was not on 24 hours a day. If you turned it on to early in the morning you would get either nothing or you would get the test pattern.

One more thing about television. There were giants on that little black and white screen. You could see people like George Burns, Red Skelton, Jack Benny, Jimmy Durante , and Milton Burl.

They had radio and record players for music . Record players used vinyl discs which were singles or long players (lp) - large records with 10 or more songs on them.
