Why couldn't Jess go to Terabethia without Leslie?

Jess couldn't go to Terabithia without Leslie because she was the one who created the imaginary kingdom and its adventures. Without Leslie, there would be no one to guide him through the world they had built together. Leslie was the driving force behind their shared adventures and without her, the magic of Terabithia would be lost for Jess.
